ABOUT ROBERT DAY
Putting Our Community First
My name is Robert W. Day Sr., and would be honored to serve as a public official for District 4 in Bowie. My wife and I moved to Bowie in April 2022, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have discovered such a wonderful community to raise our three sons and two mischievous dogs.
I was born in Washington, D.C., and spent my formative years in Silver Spring, MD. I attended Montgomery Blair High School and had the privilege of being part of the prestigious Howard University on a football scholarship. During my time at Howard, I also had the honor of being a member of the 1984 MEAC Champions Baseball team.
Being an effective legislator requires active listening, translating constituents' concerns into actionable proposals, and building consensus among council members to implement these ideas. Your input is invaluable to me, and I cannot fulfill my duties without your involvement and openness. Together, we can work towards making Bowie an exceptional place to live, work, and thrive.

For the past 25 years, I have been a dedicated advocate, tirelessly representing the interests of residents and neighborhoods in order to improve the quality of life in our community and surrounding areas.

Throughout my tenure, I have actively participated in numerous other organizations and initiatives aimed at improving our community. I served as the former Chair of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Metropolitan Washington Air Quality Committee (MWAQC), and I have been involved with the National League of Cities University Communities Council.

Here are some of the positions I currently hold or have held in the past:
-
Chair of the Bowie Race Track Task Force
-
Member of the Bowie Advisory Planning Board
-
Chair of the College Park Academy Board
-
Member of the Maryland Cybersecurity Council
Now, I am excited to continue this important work here in Bowie District 4. As a public servant, and through my various roles on boards and committees, including my 5 term tenure (10-years as a council member in College Park, I have cultivated robust working relationships with government officials at all levels in our state and region. These connections are essential for driving positive change in Bowie, and I am committed to utilizing them effectively. I am immensely proud of my record of public service, and it would be an honor to earn your vote.
